Open

  • Off leash obedience

    • Heel, sit, down, stay, come. 

  • Change from down to sit, or sit to down next to handler. 

  • Send to an aggressive decoy, with out, and re-direct to another decoy attacking the handler.

  • Jump of window, hurdle, water, etc. to aggressive decoy, with or without guard.

  • Two scenarios from list, focusing on strengths of hosting club.

Olympiad

 

Off lead obedience dog must be able to perform the following

  • Heel free

  • Heel backward

  • Directed go out

  • Thrown retrieve

  • Retrieve over a jump

  • Directed retrieve (Retrieve item is ANYTHING not a danger to the dog or handler)

  • Scent discrimination

  • Directed jumping

  • Scaling wall

  • Hurdle or similar

  • Water jump

  • Change of position: sit, down, stand next to handler

  • Change of position: sit, down, stand at a distance of 20 feet from handler

  • Hand signal come, down in motion, come, and sit from down

JUDGES/JUDGING:

  • Judges will chose 8 exercises from the list above, or hosting club, or similar. 

  • Order will be determined the day of the trial.

  • Bite work will consist of 6 of the scenarios. 

  • Dog and handler must conform to typical obedience fault judging, as well as maintain line of departure rules in both retrieving, and jumping and bite work. 

  • Dog must work with no leash or collar. 

  • Judges for Olympiad must have strong competitive obedience background, as well as competition in any biting sport such as Schutzhund, Ring Sports, KNPV, or similar. 

  • Decoys can show style, and utilize tricks of each sport in this level. 

  • Baton, schlag stocks, etc. are permitted

Street Elite

 

Obedience required

 

  • Heel

  • Sit

  • Down

  • Down on recall

  • Recall from a distance

  • Recall from out of sight

  • Stay out of sight

  • Down from distance

  • Down on recall with hand signal

  • Down on stay from distance with hand signal

  • Come with hand signal.

 

Handler and dog MUST be able to perform the above obedience in all of the following “styles”.

  • Conventional (self explanatory)

  • Stealth (moving quietly from place of cover to other cover, “sneaking” crouching.)

  • Panic (running to and from cover, jumping into or over obstacles, etc)

  • Injured (crawling, unable to use one or both arms, quietly)

 

Handler and dog may be asked to negotiate some obstacles, obstacles must be:

  1. Natural (naturally occurring, ie; small stream, fences, etc) OR

  2. Obstacles that BOTH handler and Dog can do together. 

  • Points on obstacle limited to pass/fail

  • Teamwork is essential

  • Flat collar and or chain choker allowed

  • Points taken if utilized. 

 

  • Bitework will consist of six of the scenarios.  One MUST be turned into a call off. 

  • Bitework MUST be done in tactical priority, ie, closest, most immediate threat cleared first. 

  • Weapons must be removed from bad guy by handler, or dropped on command. 

 

JUDGES/JUDGING:

  • Judges must have strong police K-9 background. 

  • Judging is done on how well the job is done. 

  • Quick outs are a must, as well as moving, naturally acting decoys. 

  • Anything that is raised to shoulder level, or higher must be considered a threat. 

  • Weapons must closely resemble threats, (better an unloaded BB handgun, than a brightly colored squirt gun)

  • Decoys are asked to behave in a natural way, no “style” apparent in the work.

  • Decoy competitions may be hosted during K-9 Pro Sport trials. 

  • Decoys will be “certified” to be Olympiad, or street elite, as well as PP, and Open. 

  • Decoys must be certified for the level they are going to work PRIOR to entering either Olympiad or Street Elite. 

  • Separate decoy competitions must also have a separate judge whose responsibility is only the decoy portion, NOT the competitor judge.

Clubs

  • Clubs must be members of K-9 Pro Sports. 

  • Each club can decide which level (s) they wish to offer at their trials. 

  • Club membership shall be __________ $, for each calendar year they are a member. 

  • In addition, clubs must make their trials open to all who wish to enter, regardless if the competitor is a K-9 Pro Sport Member or not. 

  • Discounts may be given to members. 

  • For each entry in any level, the club must forward $______ to the parent club, to defray expenses. 

  • ONLY K-9 Pro Sports Members will be included in titles, awards, or other prizes offered by the Parent Club.   

  • Clubs can expect, for their membership, to be assisted in the advertising of the event, in the procurement of judges and decoys, and for other assistance as deemed necessary by the parent club. 

  • The club is required to select a trial date for that year by the date of April 1st

  • Efforts should be made by each club to respect the dates of other clubs, so as not to cause conflict within clubs. 

 

K-9 Pro Sports Members

  • Members are strongly encouraged to maintain their membership

  • This membership includes the newsletter, free advertising on the website, and record keeping to ensure that each member obtains the titles that he/she has obtained.

  • You may partake in any club event and NOT be a member, but this puts you out of the running for titles, and money or other prizes that may be offered by the parent club, as well as points toward the finals.
